If you have more than one subscription set up, then click ‘view’ to select the subscription you wish to edit. If you only have one subscription set up, then you will automatically be taken to your subscription order details.

Select the action relevant to how you wish to edit your subscription:

CHANGE ADDRESS – change your shipping address.

CHANGE PAYMENT – change payment card.

CHANGE SUBSCRIPTION – select this option if you need to increase or decrease the frequency in which you receive your order. For example, you might want to change your order of 45 rolls every month to every six weeks instead.

CHANGE ORDER DATE – select this option if you wish to change your regular order date. Simply select your preferred date from the calendar and any other notes you wish to make, and our customer service team will be in touch shortly to authorise the change.

PAUSE – select this option if you need to pause your subscription while you are on holiday. Don’t forget to resume your order when you get back home by logging onto your customer account and selecting ‘REACTIVATE’

CANCEL – select this option if you would like to completely cancel your subscription. If you have multiple subscriptions that require cancelling, these will all need to be cancelled separately.

Oceans toilet paper is made from virgin pulp cellulose – a clean, wood-based raw material – which is what makes our toilet paper super soft and strong.

All our virgin pulp cellulose is sustainably sourced and is FSC® certified. FSC® stands for Forest Stewardship Council® and they are on a mission to promote environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically prosperous management. They carefully manage forest habitats in a sustainable way – environmentally, economically and socially – to ensure the longevity of supply is in harmony with the surrounding ecosystem.

FSC® certified materials are fully traceable back to the forest where the paper originated from. Our raw materials are sourced from the EU in large parent reels and transported using sea freight. Sourcing in bulk and transporting via sea rather than air or land cuts down our impact on the environment.

The rest of the packaging is made from materials sourced from the UK. The materials are then converted and made into the finished product in the UK.

When choosing to shop greener so we can keep our oceans bluer, it is easy to drown in the sea of information and greenwashing! But which eco-friendly product is best?

Bamboo – although quite a hardy plant, bamboo grows best in warm, moist climates. It’s for this reason over one-third of the world’s bamboo is grown in China. Bamboo is shipped in converted format which means you ship less than half compared to our method of shipping parent reels of virgin cellulose into the UK. The claims surrounding bamboo toilet roll start to unravel when you realise it’s racked up some miles being transported to the UK.

Recycled – you can get FSC® certification for recycled paper as long as the paper is fully traceable back to FSC® certified sources. Usually, recycled paper uses a broad mix of paper making the FSC® claim extremely difficult. Using these various paper waste streams also means the manufacturing process uses loads more energy, and means the finished product is inconsistent which can feel like rough paper and look grey in appearance.

FSC® certified material – is what we make our Oceans toilet paper from and is a virgin cellulose material which gives our toilet roll its super softness and strength. It is sustainably sourced from Europe in large parent reels – so less miles travelled before we make our lovely toilet paper right here in the UK. Our Oceans products go straight from our manufacturing site directly to your door, so even fewer miles travelled before it reaches your home!

Oh, the making of toilet paper is a complex process. But one we couldn’t live without!

First, wood offcuts (such as wood chips and sawdust) are put into a digester machine, which is essentially a large pressure cooker. They’re mixed with water and a few chemicals before being ‘cooked’.

This process evaporates any moisture within the wood so the mixture can be broken down into cellulose. Cellulose – also known as pulp – is used to form the main part of the roll. Are you still with us?

Once the pressure cooker has finished, the pulp (which has a very gooey texture at this stage) is washed to remove the chemicals and at this stage we like to keep our methods as friendly as possible by using an Elemental Chlorine Free technique to whiten our pulp. It’s at this point that lignin (a chemical naturally found in wood and plants) is removed too.

If we skipped this step, the element could turn the paper yellow, preventing the maintenance of that clean, crisp white we’re so familiar with.

The pulp is then mixed with a large amount of water and put into a machine that has rotor blades. As the blades turn, they act as a giant blender, mixing the water while also ensuring the wood chips are diced into very small pieces.
Once the final solution is ready, it’s laid out on very large mesh screens that allow the water to drain and the material to dry out.

Fun fact: all water that has been used in the process up until this point can be reused by the factory, and so it goes back to the beginning to restart the cycle. No unnecessary waste around here!

At this stage, the soft toilet paper can now be embossed with a brand logo or symbol and sent to a drying machine. This feeds the paper through large rollers so that it can be formed into a one-millimetre-thick sheet while the applied heat removes any final traces of water.

From here, it’s turned into a ‘parent roll’. These parent rolls weigh approximately 1.2 tonnes and contain enough toilet paper for three people across their whole lifetimes! A log saw is used to chop up the parent roll and turn it into roughly 10,000 individual toilet rolls that can be packaged and ready for customers.

Yes, it really is! All of the raw materials are plastic-free, including our recyclable paper packaging that lovingly wraps our toilet paper! They're also popped into a sturdy cardboard box, made from sustainably sourced materials. Ensuring they arrive on your doorstep damage free. Top tip – why not use the cardboard box for the ultimate arts and craft project or re-use it for extra storage? If you just want to simply recycle it, pop this in your paper recycling bin along with your paper packaging.

Oceans toilet tissues and kitchen towels are bleach free and contain no harsh chemicals. Whilst chemicals may be present in the making of tissue products, we ensure that their use is kept to a minimum, not harmful, meet all related regulatory requirements and are environmentally safe.

Our toilet paper is free from bleach and kind to skin. If you wanted to try our toilet paper, we would recommend purchasing our 27 rolls as a one-off order and if you do have any issues we would be happy to refund the cost of the product.

Obviously this depends on whether you are a toilet paper folder, scruncher or hand wrapper, it depends on whether you are a one-square wonder (hats off to you people) or prefer a little more padding for your bottom, it also depends on whether you are a social butterfly and have more guests to accommodate or if your home is your private sanctuary – we can only but give you a general rule of bum!

1-person household – 27 rolls every 3 month or 45 rolls every 6 months

2-person household – 27 rolls every 2 months or 45 rolls every 3 months

3-person household – 27 rolls every 4 weeks or 45 rolls every 2 months

4-person household – 27 rolls every 3 weeks or 45 rolls every 6 weeks

If you are a Friends of Oceans regular subscriber, you have full control to edit your settings to suit your household and can select anything between weekly or monthly deliveries. Many of our Friends set up their subscription and edit it further down the line once they have a feel for the swing of the household. You even have flexibility to pause your subscription if you are going on holiday! How cool is that? We’ve thought of everything!

Each of our eco-friendly toilet rolls has 180 sheets of 3-ply paper and a roll length of 21.6m! That’s a lot of winding back up if your cat gets hold of it!

So, a 27-roll pack has 4,860 sheets and a 45-roll pack has 8,100 sheets.

Compared to other toilet roll brands, our eco toilet paper has a larger sheet size of 120x100mm.

Yes, our toilet paper is vegan and cruelty-free.

Yes, our toilet paper is safe for septic tanks and composting toilets. The toilet paper is made from virgin pulp cellulose – a clean, wood-based raw material – so it breaks down and disintegrates easily in your septic tank and any composting toilet.

Yes and no. Toilet paper that’s made from recycled materials cannot be recycled again due to the material’s short fibres. This means it will produce poor pulp in the recycling process.

The cardboard tube, however, can be recycled. Once you’ve finished with one of our soft toilet rolls, you can simply pop the tube into your recycling bin (or keep it to one side for arts and crafts activities!) and go about your day.

The invention of toilet roll is credited to two people: Joseph Gayetty and Seth Wheeler.

Some people are #TeamJosephGayetty, whereas others are #TeamSethWheeler. But it really depends on how you define the word ‘invented’.

Gayetty, an American businessman who patented toilet paper in 1857, is credited as the inventor of the first commercially available toilet paper. His product was sold as flat sheets.

Wheeler, an American inventor who patented a toilet paper *roll* in 1883, was the first to produce toilet paper with a cardboard tube, which is how we know it today.

Yes, our eco toilet paper rolls can be composted. This is because the cardboard tubes are made from paper, which is a biodegradable material.

However, there are a few things to keep in mind when composting toilet rolls:

• The toilet roll must be empty, as any tissue left on the roll will not compost properly.
• The roll should be ripped into smaller pieces to help it break down faster.
• Avoid composting toilet paper rolls that have been coated with wax or plastic because these will also not compost properly. Oh, and it can even contaminate your compost pile!

Yes, several things can cause irritation. And nobody likes an aggravated bottom.

You might be at risk if the toilet paper is:
• Too rough
• Too thin
• Chemically treated (i.e., with bleach or perfumes)
• Not suited for sensitive skin

Our soft toilet paper is free from bleach and kind to the skin. If you want to try our toilet roll, we recommend purchasing our 27-rolls as a one-off order, and if you do have any issues, we would be happy to refund the cost of the product.

Ah, the infamous ‘over or under’ debate.

Over = when the end of the toilet paper hangs over the top of the roll.

Under = when the end of the toilet paper hangs underneath the roll.

We don’t want to get involved... Ultimately, how you choose to hang your toilet roll is completely dependent on personal preference.

However, many people do argue that ‘over’ is the right way because it’s more hygienic, easier to use, and looks better. But hey, your bathroom is in your jurisdiction.

Yes of course. You will need to set up a new subscription for your kitchen roll, just as you did with your toilet roll. You will then be able to manage both subscriptions in your account. If you want both orders to be delivered together, please just ensure that both subscriptions have the same order date.

If you’ve used our eco kitchen roll to mop up only water, it certainly is recyclable! Simply pop it into your household recycling bin.

However, if you’ve used it to mop up anything else or alongside cleaning products, you should dispose of the kitchen towel in your general household waste.

All our packaging is fully recyclable and suitable to dispose of in your household paper recycling bin. This includes the paper wrap, the inner core and the outer box packaging.

Yes, it’s a natural product made from fully sustainable FSC®-certified (C074684) paper and is completely biodegradable and will break down naturally. As it is a super-strong and absorbent material, don’t flush down your loo as it will cause a blockage! It’s not designed to be flushable.

No, please don’t flush the kitchen roll down the toilet. Kitchen paper towels are not designed to break down in the same way as toilet paper and, therefore, can pollute waterways and harm wildlife. Additionally, you may experience incredibly inconvenient blockages in your pipes if you attempt to flush them.

It’s always best to dispose of kitchen roll in the bin or compost it.

Yes, it’s safe to do this, but it’s important that you exercise caution when doing so. Kitchen paper towels, after all, are exactly that: paper. For example, don’t wander off and get distracted as the 3-ply kitchen towel heats up in the microwave for an extended period.

If you deem health and safety important, don’t put the kitchen roll in the air fryer. Of course, air fryers operate at a very high heat, so using kitchen paper towel is an unnecessary fire risk.

If you haven’t used the kitchen roll to clean up anything too yucky, you can compost the sheets. As it’s made purely of plant fibres, it's an excellent carbon source and therefore boasts fantastic qualities ideal for composting.

However, be careful not to attempt to compost contaminated kitchen roll that has been used for cleaning, cooking, or clearing up animal waste.

Even soft kitchen towel can be abrasive, so it’s best not to use these sheets on valuable glass, such as your phone screen or car window. Kitchen roll has an abundance of positive qualities, but cleaning glass is not one of them. Oh well, can’t win them all!

If you’re absolutely desperate and have no toilet paper left, the answer is yes, you can use kitchen roll as toilet paper. However, you must dispose of the eco kitchen roll in the waste bin after use. Never flush it down the toilet!

Here at Oceans, our eco laundry sheets are made with seven plant-based materials.

SODIUM DODECYL SULFATE, GLYCEROL, DECYL GLUCOSIDE, BETAINE, FATTY ALCOHOL POLYGLYCOL, POLY, TRISODIUM CITRATE.

SODIUM DODECYL SULFATE: We use a plant-based surfactant created from coconut oil. The substance is used to break the water tension and remove dirt and stains from the fabric during the wash cycle. We use a dioxane-free, plant-based SDS that is also biodegradable and does not bioaccumulate in water or land.

GLYCEROL: Glycerol is a sweet, viscous, colourless and odourless liquid. The quality of glycerine as a solvent, along with its hygroscopic properties (ability to absorb water vapor) make it good for cleaning and stain removal. These properties allow glycerine to soften the hardened stains, so that even old stains can be removed more easily.

DECYL GLUCOSIDE: Decyl Glucoside is a mild cleanser often used in cosmetic formulations and products for individuals with sensitive skin. Decyl Glucoside is a natural and biodegradable ingredient derived from corn and coconuts. In our laundry sheets, Decyl Glucoside helps to remove dirt and oils more effectively.

BETAINE: Betaine is a naturally produced ingredient that can be used instead of dry sulphates. Betaine is extracted from molasses, which is the juice of sugar cane and is an effective cleaning agent due to its high surface activity.

FATTY ALCOHOL POLYGLYCOL POLY (VINYL ALCOHOL): A fully biodegradable non-ionic surfactant we use in our laundry sheets to fight stains and break down residues such as oil and soap.

POLY (VINYL ALCOHOL): A biodegradable polymer used as a binder in our detergent. The substance has an ability to be broken down by microorganisms and therefore makes it completely safe for the environment. It is non-toxic to humans, animals and marine life.

TRISODIUM CITRATE: The use of trisodium citrate improves the performance of the detergent, it acts as a cleaning aid and water softener so that the detergent can work more effectively. Unlike phosphate builders, it is safe for the environment.
